Digital Transformation and Corporate Green Competitiveness: Effect, Mechanism and Channels

Published:15 December 2023Publication History

ABSTRACT

With the development of digital economy, how to enhance green competitiveness through digital transformation has become one of the key issues for enterprises to achieve high-quality development. Based on the data of A-share listed companies from 2011 to 2020 in China, this paper discusses the influence, mechanism and function channel of digital transformation on corporate green competitiveness. The results show that digital transformation can enhance the green competitiveness of enterprises, and this effect is mainly reflected in state-owned enterprise, and enterprises with low industrial competition and environmental uncertainty. Through improving green innovation quality, strengthening social responsibility and alleviating financial constraints, digital transformation improves corporate green competitiveness. The above conclusions still hold after a series of robustness tests, including lag data, changing the measurement and overcoming potential endogeneity by an instrumental variable. Overall, the findings provide new insights into the implement of digital transformation to provide enterprise condition-based technology, practice and financial support to enhance corporate green competitiveness.
