Practice Teaching: A Perspective from Cross-border E-commerce in China

ABSTRACT

Benefiting from spillover effect of China's manufacturing capacity and comprehensive national strength, China's cross-border e-commerce has maintained a high growth rate and ushered the best period in history. The booming of cross-border e-commerce industry generates huge demands for cross-border e-commerce talents. As an important part of cross-border e-commerce talent cultivation, practice teaching in universities plays an important role in cultivating innovative, compound, applied and international talents. However, currently the practice teaching of cross-border e-commerce is far from satisfactory due to a series of reasons. With the purpose of exploring an appropriate practice teaching model, this paper discusses current situation of cross-border e-commerce development and its talent needs in China. The paper also elaborates the fundamentals of practice teaching, such as connotation of practice teaching, characteristics of practice teaching and significance of practice teaching. In accordance with the fundamentals of practice teaching the paper analyzes existing problems in current cross-border e-commerce practice teaching from different perspectives, such as teaching system, teaching contents, teacher resources, teaching platform, off-campus practice, etc. Based on the connotations, characteristics of practice teaching, and combined with the analysis of current problems in cross-border e-commerce practice teaching, this paper put forwards suggestions on how to improve effectiveness of current cross-border e-commerce practice teaching, in particular this paper points out that effective cultivation of innovation and entrepreneurship in practice teaching is a better way to enhance students’ practical operation ability and proposes specific countermeasures concerning promoting students’ innovation and entrepreneurship in the practice teaching of cross-border e-commerce.
