Intelligent Sensor and Multimedia System for Food Science and AgTech

Recent advancements in intelligent sensors and multimedia systems, with integrated machine learning, have been studied to address practical challenges across many industry sectors, including agriculture, health, construction, and defence. Technologies such as surveillance, monitoring, and quality inspection can be utilised in AgTech, assisting farmers to produce products that address the increasing demand of quality food. This presentation will begin with an overview of past and recent work on intelligent sensor and multimedia systems at the University of South Australia. Then, further details of food science and AgTech projects will be presented, including almond quality and toxic analysis using RGB and hyperspectral imaging, machine-learning based tomato yield prediction, vision-based snail/slug tracking for pest control, and synchrotron-based analysis of wheat grain micronutrient and soil-root interactions.
