Abstract

In pursuing a sustainable future, we face challenges that individuals and nations alone cannot surmount. Across all domains, the indispensable pillars are the capacity for cooperation, a culture of collaboration, and a robust communication infrastructure to fortify these endeavors. Notably, the cooperation within the Asia-Pacific region, characterized by its geographical closeness and the diverse sharing of resources, holds paramount significance.

In this keynote address, I will present insights garnered from the AI3/SOI-Asia Project, a collaborative initiative spanning over a decade, which has seen more than 20 universities and research institutes from more than ten countries in Asia Pacific join forces in the realms of research, education, and communication infrastructure since its inception in 2001. Through this endeavor, we seek to highlight the transformative power of community-based research and education activities currently underway to steer us toward a sustainable future that embraces sustainability, innovation, and collective progress.
