ABSTRACT
UnFrame is an augmented reality exhibition on methods of timber framing in the Northeastern part of North America. The exhibition displays a full-scale HodinQhs(?:nih longhouse, a full-scale platform framed house, and several virtual reality trees that show methods of stretching logs. The fully accessible outdoor public exhibition invites users to explore and interact with each of these three distinct domestic timber construction methods through the AR application and printed displays. The UnFrame exhibition is intended to question current paradigms of mass timber industrialization, non-local tree harvest, and material utilization through this augmented experience with interactive details. The pubic AR exhibit enables visitors to have these conversations collectively.
