Penapp: A Mobile App for Improving Pensioners' Screening Exercises

Published:30 January 2024Publication History

ABSTRACT

Pensioners' screening exercises are crucial events for verifying and updating the records of retired individuals, ensuring accurate pension disbursement, and maintaining the integrity of the pension system to promote the financial well-being and security of retirees. This paper presents a digital intervention aimed at addressing the challenges encountered during the screening exercise. Therefore, we designed a mobile app, called Penapp, targeting retired individuals with the aim of designing a feedback system tailored to the needs of pensioners undergoing screening exercises in Ibadan North Local Government Area, Oyo State, Nigeria. To achieve this, we employ a user-centered design approach involving an interview session to understand participants' needs and preferences. Subsequently, we created a Low-Fidelity Prototype (LFP) and evaluated its features. The results of our evaluation provided valuable design suggestions to enhance the app's functionality. Building upon the LFP results and the recommendations received, we developed a High-Fidelity Prototype (HFP) that incorporates features from the LFP as well as the recommended improvements. Finally, we conducted user testing with the HFP, which yielded positive feedback and underscored the necessity of such an application.
