An Empirical Analysis of The Relationship Between Technological Innovation Capability and Economic Growth in Beijing

ABSTRACT

According to China's national conditions and policies, technological innovation has become one of the main sources of economic growth. Based on the time series data of Beijing from 2001 to 2020, this paper makes an empirical study on the relationship between technological innovation capability and economic growth of Beijing by using ridge regression. This paper mainly analyzes the influence of internal R&D expenditure and full-time equivalent of R&D personnel on GDP in Beijing. The internal R&D expenditure is taken as the index reflecting the technological innovation ability, and the full-time equivalent of R&D personnel is taken as the control variable. The empirical analysis shows that the internal R&D expenditure has a significant positive impact on GDP, while the full-time equivalent of R&D personnel has no significant impact on GDP. The results show that technological innovation ability can promote economic growth.
