Research on the Design of Museum Cultural Relics Restoration Experience Based on MR Technology

Published:27 February 2024Publication History

ABSTRACT

Currently, there exists some problems on museum visit experience in China, such as the sense of alienation between tourists and cultural relics, information barrier on the restoration and preservation of cultural relics, and difficulties for tourists in understanding the deeper cultural connotations behind cultural relics. By utilizing Mixed Reality (MR) technology, this paper creatively combines the emotional experience theory of design psychology and Human computer interaction (HCI) theory, and integrates the restoration relevant knowledge to build a design strategy model of museum service system of relic restoration featuring interactive experience. The design verification and usability test are carried out by taking Chinese ceramic cultural relics as an example. It proves that the design strategy model proposed in this paper has certain learnability and ease of use. The interactive experience service design can fill the gap in the demand of museum visitors to experience the restoration of cultural relics. In addition, it also arises the public's thinking on the use of new technologies to solve a series of problems such as the restoration, preservation and cultural promotions, so that more cultural relics can be restored, displayed and activated and let the world see more Chinese cultural treasures, feel the charm of traditional Chinese culture.
