ABSTRACT
Prosocial driving behaviors help to decrease incidence of accidents. The present research aimed to explore the impact of driver’s psychological factor on prosocial driving behavior. Three studies were developed to achieve this objective. Study 1 tested the correlation between driver’s BJW and driving prosocial behavior. The sample consisted of sixty-three participants who took part via the Internet. Study 2 used a priming manipulation to examine the causal relationship between driver’s BJW and driving prosocial behavior. Study 3 designed different road scenarios to examine the driver performance on driving prosocial behavior by driving simulator. The results show that the driver’s belief in a just world may positive predictor of higher willingness to prosocial driving behavior. This research provides support for possible intervention on drivers that can encourage greater willingness in prosocial driving behavior that benefits all road users.
