Virtual reality technology is an interactive 3D simulation technology based on computer science, which can simulate environments and scenes in the real or fictional world. In recent years, with the rapid development of virtual reality (VR) technology, its application in smart education has also received increasing attention. This article aims to explore the potential and application of virtual reality technology in smart education. Firstly, we will briefly introduce virtual reality technology and smart education, as well as their characteristics. Then, we will elaborate on the application fields of virtual reality technology in smart education, including virtual classrooms, virtual laboratories, virtual examination halls, and virtual classrooms, and propose a smart education system based on virtual reality technology. The application of virtual reality technology in smart education has broad prospects. By utilizing virtual reality technology, we can provide more immersive, personalized, and diverse educational experiences, promoting students' learning outcomes and interests.
