Location Based CSI Optimization for RIS Aided Networks

Published: 23 April 2024 Publication History

Abstract

The deployment strategy of reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) based on two RISs assisting two-user downlink networks is investigated. We first formulate the sum rate maximization model by optimizing the precoding vectors, the RIS parameters and the RIS locations. Then the problem is approximated through the maximum ratio transmission, Courant penalty function and fractional optimization techniques. The alternating optimization as well as the alternating direction method of multipliers are applied for the approximated problem. Finally, numerical results show that the achieved sum rate gains from location optimization, and the proper RIS might located near the BS, near the users or in between the BS and the users.
