Analysis of Influence of Energy storage on Power Grid Stability Characteristics in Different Scenarios

Abstract

With the increasing demand for peak shaving in high proportion new energy grids and the connection between energy storage and the power grid on a large scale. The transient response of energy storage is dominated by the control characteristics of its converter, which is different to the grid stability under different access points and charging and discharging states. In some application scenarios, it will aggravate the existing stability of the power grid and restrict its role in the regulation. To solve the above problems, the scenarios of energy storage in high-proportion new energy are first analyzed, and the influence mechanism of energy storage on stability level is revealed in different scenarios. Secondly, the key influencing factors on voltage stability, power angle stability, and overvoltage issues under different fault traversal control methods of energy storage were compared and analyzed. Finally, an optimization method for the performance of energy storage fault traversal control was proposed for different stability issues, and the proposed method was validated with a certain province in northwest China to guide the optimization of energy storage control strategies and improve the stability level with energy storage.
