Design and Structure Analysis of a Prototype Industrial Robot Arm

Abstract

This research introduces a design of a multi-purpose prototype robot arm based on 4 DOF SCARA Robot. It's designed to have the small operating dimensions to grab, drop an object from place to place. The object of the design is to choose the material and design the structure to withstand a maximum load of 500 grams at vulnerable part with a reasonable price. Using stress analysis by the Finite Element Method (FEM) in SolidWorks software, the distributions of maximum stresses, factor of safety, and strain of robotic arms are shown to get a better understanding of its structure. The simulated results for dynamic show the effectiveness of the proposed structure. This research could be used as references for design a 4 DOF robot arm in static and dynamic conditions, and analyses for relative robot's structure.
