Design and Implementation of a Control System for Atmospheric Pressure Microwave Plasma Torch Based on PLC

Published: 28 June 2024 Publication History

Abstract

This article introduces a PLC based control system for atmospheric pressure microwave plasma torches. Using Siemens S7-1500 PLC as the control core and utilizing intouch software for human-computer interaction interface design, the control of microwave and plasma is integrated into one system. This system includes plasma generation devices, microwave power supplies, infrared high-temperature thermometers, and other components, which can achieve real-time monitoring and control of gas flow rate, microwave power, plasma density, and temperature parameters, thereby achieving precise control of plasma morphology and chemical reactions. In the design and implementation process of the control system, we also adopted PID control algorithm, PROFIBUS communication technology, etc. to improve the stability and reliability of the system, while reducing system errors. Through experimental testing, the control system has high engineering application value and promotion value in the field of atmospheric pressure microwave plasma discharge.
