Forecasting Cargo Throughput of Xiamen Port Based on Grey-Markov Model

Published: 01 June 2024 Publication History

Abstract

In an effort to better estimate the cargo throughput of Xiamen Port, a grey Markov prediction model was created. Relevant data of Xiamen Port from 2006 to 2022 were selected for prediction, and the predicted values were firstly derived using the DGM (2, 1) model, but the results were not satisfactory. In view of enhancing the accuracy of the model, Markov chain is further introduced to correct the predicted values according to the relative value division of the states. By analyzing the relevant data, the results show that the predicted values of the model are closer to the actual values of Xiamen Port and more accurate. Finally, the cargo volume of this port in the next three years is also predicted.
