Data-driven insights: Redefining organizational culture measurement through system log analysis

Published: 11 June 2024 Publication History

Abstract

This study aims to explore new methods for measuring organizational culture using business system log data collected from organizational members. We seek to provide organizations and leaders with a valuable tool that can help them make informed decisions and establish efficient change plans based on concrete data. Initially, organizations and their members were classified into cultural types based on existing validated theories and models. Members belonging to each type were then selected. Subsequently, surveys tailored to the characteristics and keywords of each type were re-administered, and the results were analyzed by comparing them with the system usage log data of the same members. Organizational culture can be identified and classified by analyzing system usage log data. Organizations can range from enterprises to national governments, and their members generate many forms of log data through their use of business systems and e-government platforms. Therefore, by connecting organizational culture measurement with system log data analysis, we can encourage organizations to take actions based on data rather than relying solely on experience and intuition.
