Research on Short Circuit Current Calculation Algorithm Based on Steam Turbine Generator in Complex Power Grids

Abstract

With the large-scale and complex development of power grid engineering in China, there is an increased demand for the accuracy and scientific calculation of short-circuit currents in power grid faults. This paper introduces the theoretical basis and algorithms of practical methods for short-circuit current calculation in power grids. Through in-depth analysis of the concept and calculation methods of per unit values, and based on circuit analysis theory and the short-circuit theory of steam turbine generators, this paper provides models and algorithms for short-circuit current calculation in power grid engineering. Specifically addressing key locations in complex power grid circuits, such as the high and low voltage sides of transformers and equipment inlet ends, detailed short-circuit current analyses were conducted. The calculations yielded the magnitudes of short-circuit currents and short-circuit capacity values for different locations during short circuits. The results of these numerical calculations can serve as a reference for power grid short-circuit fault analysis, providing information on the short-circuit currents and capacities supplied by various power sources during short-circuit incidents. This enables timely implementation of measures to restrict short-circuit currents at corresponding locations, thereby avoiding damage to the overall stability of the power system.
