Design and Simulation of Automotive Adaptive Cruise Control

Published: 18 November 2024 Publication History

Abstract

To enhance Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) performance, a two-layer controller integrating Model Predictive Control (MPC) with PID strategies was designed. This optimized the system's control logic, improving response speed and stability across varying road conditions. A Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation platform was established to simulate real driving environments for thorough ACC performance evaluation. HIL tests replicated real driving scenarios, confirming the platform's stability and accuracy. The proposed ACC system excelled in tests, enhancing safety and passenger comfort.
