Abstract
FASE (pronounced like "phase"), the Forum for Advancing Software engineering Education, was started in 1991 by members of the software engineering education community in order to have a electronic forum for the dissemination and discussion of events related to software engineering education. The original acronym for FASE was Forum for Academic Software Engineering, but was subsequently changed so that it was more inclusive to industrial and government training issues (which led to a co-editor in that area). In recent years, FASE has also covered a wide variety of professional issues (e.g. licensing, certification, ethics, body of knowledge, and accreditation), which has also led to the addition of yet another co-editor for this area.FASE is an independently-published newsletter, not affiliated with ACM, IEEE-CS or any other organization. As of October 2000, 129 issues have been published. Since August 1997, FASE has been published monthly, and is released on the 15th of each month in ASCII format. FASE has several hundred subscribers in over 50 countries and provinces. There is also a FASE-TALK discussion list. The FASE web page is at http://www.cs.ttu.edu/fase. It contains subscription information, article submission guidelines, and an archive of all FASE issues and FASE-TALK postings to date. The FASE Staff:
