ABSTRACT
Our poster introduces an innovative RLS Lattice filter implementation for FPGAs. The signal processing applications typically require wide numeric range, and that poses a problem when using an FPGA implementation. Our approach is based on arithmetic using logarithmic numeric representation (LNS). The test application - an adaptive noise canceller - has been optimized for the Xilinx Virtex devices. It consumes roughly 70% of all logic resources of the XCV800 device and all block memory cells. The filter orders up to 252 at 7 kHz sampling frequency have been achieved using the 19-bit LNS arithmetic. The maximum performance of the application is about 70 MFLOPs including i/o conversions. It has been shown that the custom filter design can be 10 times faster than commonly used solutions. This work was supported by the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic under Project No. LN00B06.

Virtex FPGA implementation of a pipelined adaptive LMS predictor for electronic support measures receivers
High-speed field-programmable gate array (FPGA) implementations of an adaptive least mean square (LMS) filter with application in an electronic support measures (ESM) digital receiver, are presented. They employ "fine-grained" pipelining, i.e., ...
Scalable FPGA implementation for mixed-norm LMS-LMF adaptive filters
IWCMC '09: Proceedings of the 2009 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing: Connecting the World WirelesslyThis work proposes a scalable architecture for implementing a mixed-norm LMS-LMF adaptive algorithm using a 16-bit fixed-point arithmetic representation. The hardware scalability allows flexibility in the choice of selecting the order of the filter ...
Implementation of Reconfigurable Adaptive Filtering Algorithms
ICSPS '09: Proceedings of the 2009 International Conference on Signal Processing SystemsFiltering data in real-time requires dedicated hardware to meet demanding time requirements. If the statistics of the signal are not known, then adaptive filtering algorithms can be implemented to estimate the signals statistics iteratively. Modern ...
