Retargeting an Ada source level debugger to CICS

ABSTRACT

Several characteristics of CICS make design of an Ada source level debugger difficult. This paper describes these difficulties, and solutions used in retargeting AdaView™, (a full featured Ada source level debugger, written in Ada), so that it can debug Ada application programs running under CICS. Special consideration is given to debugging pseudoconversational applications, the most common type of CICS interactive application. AdaView's main part, running under MVS, communicates with a small CICS resident part via SNA LU 6.2 APPC protocol.
