ABSTRACT
Online documentation and its role in user services is becoming increasingly important in government and industry computer centers. Many of the reasons for online documentation apply to university computer centers. The panelists, all of whom come from government or industry, will discuss their ideas on what is online documentation, what is it supposed to do, what ways can it be implemented, and what does it cost. The purpose of the discussion is to focus attention on one aspect of user services in which university computer centers might become profitably involved.
The following outline lists most of the areas that are related to online documentation. It will not be possible to address each area; however, the panelists will give their views on the relative importance of each area.
