Improving word processing - data processing relationships

Published:01 January 1982Publication History

ABSTRACT

Word Processing and Data Processing have developed separately over the past two decades with different equipment, different types of personnel and services performed. The latest technological advances have produced systems which have an overlap of functions. As a result, the well - established Data Processing and Word Processing groups within many organizations are involved in “turf protection” and confused roles. Heavy-handed management effort s to resolve the issues often create more problems than they solve. This Panel seeks to open channels of communication between Data Processing and Word Processing Management by identifying word processing tasks and services and their relevance to data processing services.
