The education and data processing professions: a perspective

Published:01 January 1982Publication History

ABSTRACT

The data processing community is in the process of becoming a data processing profession following the track of other professions required to support a twentieth century, knowledge based society.

This paper is intended to provide a perspective on the development of this profession from the experience of another recently created profession—education. By looking at the experience of education, it may be possible for data processing to move ahead with fewer false starts.
