The German EDS network

ABSTRACT

This paper introduces the plans made by the German Telecommunication Administration for the setting up of a special data network within the near future. Starting from the present situation existing in the Federal Republic of Germany in the field of data transmission a description is given of the data network concept.

The essential technical characteristics and design considerations as well as the salient facilities are dealt with in a brief survey.
