Abstract

In April of 1978, the FORTRAN programming standards were developed as part of an overall corporate standard on system development. The standards were put into practice immediately on a project that involved three senior programmers, one intermediate programmer, three junior programmers, and a hundred-odd programs. We were pleasantly surprised that the programmers adopted the standards with little effort, even those who were not indoctrinated into the structured programming environment. Also, all the objectives stated in the introduction were more than adequately met.We hope that you will find this useful in your FORTRAN applications.
