Another approach to the use of Quad-prime for output was indicated by Jim Ryan of the Burroughs Corporation in the presentation for "Enhanced Interaction for an APL System," Proceedings APL\IV User's Conference, Atlanta, Georgia, June 15-16, 1972 (insert). He implied that the Burroughs APL\700 implementation intends to use Quad-prime output as a means to provide a store for a prompt. This prompt will appear at the user's terminal the next time that Quad-prime is used for input. This idea was first put forth, to the author's knowledge, by E. M.
