Evaluating computer conferencing in the face of change

Published:01 August 1990Publication History

ABSTRACT

Since 1986, the University of Arizona has been experimenting with computer conferencing, also known as Computer Mediated Communications (CMC) as a means to augment and enhance campus communications. Using CMC, groups of people can hold on-going discussions or “meetings” without regard to the locations or conflicting schedules of the participants. This paper summarizes the evaluation process, currently underway, which combines the resources of dozens of interested individuals in an attempt to map the future of CMC at the University of Arizona.
